More Americans now refuse a party label than claim either one. They are called undecided, apathetic, swing, low-information. Most of those labels are wrong.
This webcast takes independents seriously: who they are, what moves them, where the rules still shut them out, and what it would take to win them honestly.
In one hour, we'll cover:
- Who independents really are — the research behind the myth of the "secret partisan"
- Why closed primaries and party-registration rules exclude millions of taxpayers from the first round of voting
- What independents consistently say they want that neither party is offering
Featured speaker: Lura Forcum, former president and CEO of The Independent Center. Moderated by Ellen Hayward, Wall School of Business, Coastal Carolina University
Who should attend: independent and unaffiliated voters, election administrators, reform and good-government organizations, political science and public policy students and faculty, journalists and editorial writers, candidates and campaign staff.
